We woke up this morning to a beautiful sunny day....it made me reflect on all that is good in our life. (Yes, we are still looking for good things in our life, even during these trying times!) So what is good....fireworks were amazing; Benjamin woke up happy, smiling and cheerful; church was a good reminder that its good to drop our weapons both physically and figuratively and pick up other useful tools to help others rather than to hurt them; Teresa came over and helped us clean up our house; Sue and Joe got us dinner; Sandy's parents arrived this afternoon; and just a few minutes ago Sandy was given an I-touch from some friends so that she can have music and movies in the hospital with her. How about that for a bunch of good things in our life.
We are both not looking forward to this week but one thing is for sure we will have more answers at the end of the week than we do now! Thanks for all of your prayers. We are feeling them.
I'll close with the grace we said for dinner this evening (the same one we used on Sundays when I was growing up); "This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it."
Love, Phil, Sandy and Benjamin

Hi Sandy. Thanks for sending me the blog address, Phil. I have been hoping for a communication link with y'all and this one is great. Like all of your friends back east, we are rooting for Sandy to beat this thing. The Lord has blessed you with such a loving family and bringing all that love together will get you through this incredible challenge. Sports analogies are a bit weak but since you guys are sports fans this thought came to mind. When a batter feels a "slump" coming along one strategy is to go back to the fundamentals and face each day by repeating the simple stuff that got you to where you are today. I can see that you folks are doing just that: learning, laughing and loving. May the Lord be with you and guide you dear friends.

So glad your parents are able to be with you - say hello to them for me, Love, Marian
