Wednesay and into Thursday

I thought it would get less busy each day as Sandy recovered more and more....but it seems to be the exact opposite. We seem to get more and more care each day....which is good but not necessarily what I had anticipated. Life is full of surprises and twists and turns...and as Sandy says we are on the ride...keep hands and legs in at all times.

As I reported to you yesterday...Sandy's hemoglobin was down so they decided to give her some blood. They gave her one pint which seemed to help but then she managed to develop a fever along the way which led us into having a CT scan to see if there was any internal bleeding. There was not. In the mean time with the onset of the fever it was decided that a intravenous port would not be put in at this time. During the night she received the second pint of blood.

Meanwhile I got a little break late in the day and had some time with Benjamin while Joe Downey came up to the hospital to visit with Sandy and to watch Corner Gas. (Great Canadian show...recommend it to anyone who wants to laugh.) I came back up again last night and we had a relatively good night.

This morning Cindy brought Benjamin up to the hospital for a little time and I took him home, quick shower, and then back up to meet with Dr. Law. Before I left Dr. Beck came in and after looking at Sandy's incision is concluding that the fever is probably happening because she has an infection going on inside near the incision. So he probed a little and sent some of the blood off to the lab. So please pray for healthy healing for Sandy's wound.

Our visit with Dr. Law was excellent. She spent almost an hour with us and explained a lot about the chemotherapy process. We listened a lot and took a few notes. I am overwhelmed but her calm demeanor was great and she scheduled us for an appointment with her on the 28th. Sandy also spoke about supplements and she was totally willing to work with us and this was good news for us to hear. Chemo will most likely not start until August especially if Sandy's incision doesn't start healing faster and cleaner.

My sister Janet arrived today and it is so great to have the next team person here. We need her and are grateful that with her being in education she was relatively free to come at a moment (or two's notice). Enough for now.
